Is Congressional Ineptitude Behind Filibuster Debate?

Is anyone else embarrassed by the Congressional pissing contest over the filibuster issue?

If Congressional Democrats are really so concerned about the political leanings of judicial appointees, all they would really have to do to negate the justices' leanings is make sure there was no room for interpretation in any law they write. After all, the role of the judiciary is to interpret the law, not make it.

So, if Congress, the branch responsible for making law, you know, actually did a good job writing the laws, the political orientation of a judge is commensurately diminished.
